Some thoughts on politicians “getting into the race” ...

Some thoughts on politicians “getting into the race” ...

If you are young, and clearly demonstrate conservative values and more importantly listening skills ... more power to you. Welcome! Go to local meetings like COTU, hold events, go door to door, call for a debate of candidates.

But if you’re over 30, nobody knows you, have no experience, never attend local political functions, have never spoken before City Council, County Council, the school board, or delegation on any issue with passion or eloquence - I have to ask - where the heck have you been?

If you suddenly enter politics - while I’m happy you’re trying - you really are just muddying the waters for someone truly conservative that - as vetted - we know can do the job that IS NOT being done.

Don’t get me wrong. The political arena is nothing short of a bull fight and a constant bullet dodge. You are to be commended for entering - if for the right reason - which has nothing to do with favor, power, or money.

Public service is that. It is not to support your family. It is not a government job with benefits. It is - serving. If you have the intent to serve - then show for a few years - yes, I said years - that you’re involved, that you care, that you communicate with the active, moral watchdogs and conservatives in the county.
