Message To The Pickens County School Board: "They" Don't Win Every Time

A New York judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by American Atheists, ruling that a pair of World Trade Center beams in the shape of a cross can be included in a memorial museum of the 2001 9/11 terror attacks.

Federal Judge Deborah Batts of the Southern District of New York ruled Thursday that display of the beams is permissible because they bear historical importance.

American Atheists filed the lawsuit in July of 2012, arguing that the "government enshrinement of the cross" was a "violation of church and state and the establishment clause set forth in the 1st amendment by case history".

The World Trade Center cross is a steel crossbeam that held up when the World Trade Center towers collapsed on September 11, 2001.

The cross was moved in July of 2012 from a nearby church to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, located at ground zero in Lower Manhattan.

Father Brian Jordan, a Franciscan priest who ministered to workers clearing the area after the attacks, led a ceremonial blessing of the cross.

Museum curators plan to display "the cross" as one of hundreds of artifacts collected from the rubble of the incident.

Some first responders say the cross that was found sticking out of the wreckage with what appeared like Jesus' robe gave them a great deal of comfort at a difficult time.

David Silverman, president of American Atheists, told CNN,

"We are angry that we have to have this fight."

Just the beginning ...

From The Independent Journal Review:
"On a conference call organized by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Vice President Biden gave the implication that his agenda has further plans.

Biden rallied gun control advocates ahead of a “day of action” organized by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, telling supporters that bans on so-called assault weapons and high-capacity magazines are “just the beginning.”

“Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning,” he said on a conference call organized by the group, which is co-chaired by New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. “We believe that weapons of war have no place on our streets. That’s the message that retired admirals and generals have spoken to us about. The comment one of them used was if you want to learn how to use a semiautomatic weapon, join the United States military. But these are weapons of war.”

Just the beginning? … Notice the casual switch of language from ‘assault weapons’ to ‘weapons of war."

Monsanto Protection Act Slips By Lawmakers & Into Law

The Agricultural Appropriations Bill, which passed through Congress last week, had a small provision that slipped the eyes of lawmakers. The provision protects genetically modified seeds from litigation in the face of health risks and has thus been dubbed the “Monsanto Protection Act” by activists who oppose the biotech giant.

President Obama signed the spending bill, including the provision, into law on Tuesday March 26, 2013.

Since the act’s passing, more than 250,000 people have signed a petition opposing the provision. A group consisting largely of farmers organized by the Food Democracy Now network, protested outside the White House Wednesday.

Taxpayers are very upset after discovering the means of which the provision was passed through Congress without appropriate review by the Agricultural or Judiciary Committees. The bill was also suspiciously anonymously inserted by a house member as a larger bill progressed through Congressional sub-committees.

The Food Democracy Now and the Center for Food are directing blame at the Senate Appropriations Committee and its chairman, Senator Barbara Mikulski, a Democrat from Maryland.

According to reports, many members of Congress were apparently unaware that the “Monsanto Protection Act” even existed within the spending bill, HR 933; they voted in order to avert a government shutdown.

The provision can be reversed and will only remain in effect for six months until the government finds another way to fund its operations, but sets a precedent that court challenges are a privilege, not a right.

Fired For Not Obeying The Fed?

Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark
accepting petition and signing contract
for Operation Sheriff Reach with Gun
Rights Across America
Throughout the country, especially in the south and west, local sheriffs and rural city law enforcement officials are announcing that they will not enforce unconstitutional gun ban policies should they become law.

Some state Democrats are trying to head off such moves by attempting to get state laws passed that would instantly remove any law enforcement official or politician from office that refuses to enforce federal gun ban laws; subverting the voting process.

400+ sheriffs in 15 states have announced that they won’t enforce gun bans.

Rick Clark, Pickens County South Carolina Sheriff, is among those that signed a contract with the people not to enforce any federal gun ban legislation.

Dallas, Texas Democratic Represenative Yvonne Davis has introduced a law that would fire any official that refuses to enforce any federal gun bans.

A bill provision would also remove any elected official that similarly refuses enforcement of federal gun ban legislation.

While the law doesn't have much chance of passing, other democrats are sure to soon follow with an introduction of similar legislation in blue states.

Students Are Always Affected WHENEVER We Don't Pray

Students Are Always Affected WHENEVER We Don't Pray
by Philip Smith

Recently, Dr. Kelly Pew, the Pickens County School District Superintendent, updated the public on her blog about the recent board decision to change its invocation policy. In the post, she says student's rights would not be affected by the move.

Yet, she has this statement included:
"On Monday, March 25, the board of trustees adopted a policy that would allow board members to deliver non-sectarian prayers at their meetings if they choose. This policy is a change from the previous practice of inviting students to deliver an invocation."
If rights, are as the Declaration Of Independence says, "God-given" … then what authority does the School Board have to take a right (and some could argue; responsibility) away from a student to lead the board that decides their fate and funding in prayer?

I'd also like to have it explained why The Freedom From Religion Foundation has used this as a 1st step everywhere else, including Laurens, to ALSO remove graduation and sporting event prayer.

The people of Pickens County, at least the overwhelming majority, want the School Board to ask for guidance and protection ... Like we are asked. If you profess to be a Christian, it is your duty to call upon THE name of THE Lord.

We are also showing students, on the most important issue of all issues, that we are backing down, being bullied, and showing them that their Bible just isn't true or meaningful. It shows them the stories of Daniel, Peter, and John who suffered persecution for their OUTWARD beliefs, are meaningless. It shows them the school board who is always so quick to point out bullying in our schools has a double standard when they themselves are being bullied. It shows students that cowardice compromise rather than intellectual statesmanship; wins. It teaches them that praying for their enemies is hopeless.

Not standing up teaches that fighting the machine of government tyranny that grossly misinterprets constitutional rights for its own oppressive agenda has become a lost cause. It teaches that our forefathers were stubborn oafs who lacked humility or intellect.

At the school board meeting is was suggested that there were example prayers included in the new policy …

What example are we teaching kids about their faith, when we don't use The Teacher Jesus's prayer as an example:

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.

So, yes, it affects students. They will use this board's decisions and examples as guidance. In a generation or two, we will have forgotten what a prayer is.

Don't believe it?

Look at the definitions parents have of the word "family" now. Look at the definition our government has of "recovery" or "inflation" or "budgets".

I'd say that students are always affected whenever we don't pray.

Solar Panel Maker Says They Can't Make It Without Subsidy

Bosch is exiting the solar power business after having lost nearly $3.1 billion since starting up its solar energy subsidiary in 2008.

Bosch will end its solar power panel production early next year, and put parts of the business unit up for sale.

Bosch's solar power subsidiary lost about $1.28 billion last year.

After the German government curbed green energy subsidies, profitability hasn't been in reach for Bosch.

Other German solar companies are feeling the pinch as well – major solar companies such as SolarWorld and Conergy are in debt restructuring talks and Q-Cells filed for insolvency last year.

The Obama administration touts the jobs that the wind and solar industry create - but are they stable jobs?

Pickens School Board Votes Against Constituent Majority On Prayer Issue

About 100 Pickens County residents came to Monday night's Pickens County School Board meeting to make their final plea to the board to keep unfettered prayer at the beginning of its school board meetings.

"The point I'm trying to make tonight is we are giving up without a fight," said Junius Smith of Conservatives Of The Upstate.

Several members of Conservatives Of The Upstate were at the meeting. Junius also told board members "in the Constitution, it's freedom OF not from" and "it's free exercise thereof"

Despite pleas, the board passed a new policy on a 2nd reading 3 to 2 (Shelton, Trotter vote "NO" / Saitta, Cooper, Edwards vote "YES" / Gillespie abstained) to allow a non-sectarian based prayer.

The board came up with the new policy after the Freedom From Religion Foundation threatened to sue the district over its student led prayer.

"Taking a stand like you're suggesting will be a legal defeat and it will be costly," Pickens Board member Alex Saitta said.

Someone opposing prayer has yet to show or speak at any of the meetings that have been held to discuss the matter.

Board member Jimmy Gillespie said that he's been told that he has no backbone but he's seen no one come forward and said they would put their house on the line.

The comment perplexed the audience as there's been no official litigation from the Freedom From Religion Foundation and many pastor's have committed to giving the Board financial resources and offers of pro bono attorneys if they wish to fight.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation still may sue the district that claims prayer in any form is unconstitutional.

Grant Varner, the School District's consulting attorney on the matter,  thinks the new policy would stand up in court.

Freedom From Religion Foundation is currently suing a Lexington county district over a similar school prayer issue.

The use of drones ...

Dear Conservatives Of The Upstate,
Thank you for contacting me about the use of drones targeting American citizens on American soil. I appreciate hearing from you.
I believe that the 4th Amendment to the Constitution, which precludes the government from warrantless searches, should be our guide when we consider what the federal government should be allowed to do with drone technology. That is why I am a proud cosponsor of H.R. 1242, legislation to prohibit the use of drones to kill citizens of the United States within the United States.

I stand with Senator Rand Paul and appreciate his efforts with a Senate filibuster to receive an answer from the White House regarding this important matter. I am pleased that Attorney General Eric Holder has finally and formally agreed that the President does not have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil.

Please know, as we continue to discuss securing our homeland and the greater "War on Terror," that I will keep your thoughts in mind, always working to protect both the lives and the liberties of our citizens.
Blessings and Liberty,

American Academy of Pediatrics releases a "study" claiming that homosexuality is healthy for children

The American Academy of Pediatrics released a "study" claiming that homosexuality is healthy for children ahead of this week's Supreme Court hearings.

This week … the Supreme Court will hear arguments concerning the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act as well as the legality over keeping marriage traditional. The AAP also stated that it released the policy change ahead of the highly anticipated court case in order to provide the justices with additional research over homosexual couples raising children.

Common Core Concerns ...

One of the most important issues South Carolina is facing today involves our most precious resource … our children.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative is well on its way to become a reality in our public schools. Most people are unaware of the dangers of this program. It is an unconstitutional overreach of the Federal government.

Federal control over education has been expanding ever since the 60's with steadily decreasing student achievement results. The Federal government has taken over education by the promise of funding and the threat of withholding funding.

US Code Title 20 Education Chapter 48 Section 3403. under the section titled Relationship with States, you will see why it is unconstitutional. Furthermore, this National Core Curriculum is based on a one size fits all education and will make our local schools accountable to Washington DC and not to our parents. Parents have a right to decide what their children need to learn as well as when they need to learn it. After all, it is our hard earned tax dollars paying for our child's education. As a parent one should be able to go to your local school board with concerns about the curriculum being taught to your child. You shouldn't have to go to Washington DC to address my problems.

The Federal funds attached to accepting Common Core are a bribe so the Federal Government can take control of our most precious resource … our children. Right now these Common Core Standards are for English and Math only, but you can be assured the wheels are turning for it to include Social Studies and Science in the near future. Can you imagine the goals the liberal progressives and out of state bureaucrats will develop?

The assessment tool being used to test our children for these Federal funds are not objective type questions with right and wrong answers which are easily scored with easy to compare results; but are highly subjective. The answers can only be scored through use of a rubric which is based on an evaluator's opinion...and we all know opinions differ from evaluator to evaluator. By South Carolina accepting and signing on to this Common Core Curriculum the Federal Government has achieved its goal of forcing teachers to indoctrinate and promote subjective feelings, opinions, beliefs, multiculturalism, political correctness, diversity, global warming, homosexuality and social justice all under the guise of trying to "help" us fix South Carolina education problems.

The truth is … local educators and parents are better at deciding what the needs of our children are … NOT the Federal Government!

Please contact your representatives in SC and tell them to support Senator Larry Grooms bill S0300 which supports opting out of Common Core.

An Update On The Success Of Conservatives Of The Upstate Concerning The Doodle Trail

While we would rather our local governments listen to reason rather than
greed or "green" agendas … we feel we have fought the hard fight. What is about to ensue will be a stamp of Liberty and Constitutional assurance on this gross abuse of political muscle and eminent domain.
In a recent meeting with homeowners along the proposed Doodle Trail, The Conservatives Of The Upstate announced that we had secured legal representation for more than 90 land owners.

An attorney will seek just compensation under the 5th Amendment to The United States Constitution:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
The issue at stake is whether the City of Pickens, City of Easley, and Pickens County have the necessary funds or fiscal responsibility to build the trail in the first place ~ considering the perilous economic times we are in. Conservatives Of The Upstate feels that taking grant money from a Federal Government that is bankrupt into the trillions of dollars BEYOND what is necessary for society to function normally, is close to criminal.

We also feel that deteriorating infrastructure and LOWERING tax burdens and inflation due to errant government economic policy are far more important at this time than the building of a trail that is an uncertain economic sinkhole and potentially unforeseen environmental disaster.

Some history of action by The Conservatives Of The Upstate on the matter :

The YMCA, in connection with Upstate Forever ( a self labelled Agenda 21 NGO ), influenced Y members to take part in a lopsided and intentionally deceiving survey about the potential benefit of a trail along the abandoned "Doodle Train Track" that stretches roughly 8.5 miles from Pickens, SC through to Easley, SC.

After the completion of this survey, Upstate Forever made various presentations to local governments and made statements by email and letter to various federal agencies.

Moving forward with the project … The entities involved in the conversion of the Doodle Line Railroad track to a walking and biking trail planned to seize the land. The property owners along the trail had significant reversionary owner rights to the property from the abandoned track.

No poll of the landowners was conducted. No input from taxpayers was garnered. No substantial environmental studies of the track had been conducted. No significant safety studies had been conducted.

Only fictitious usage and economic impact figures from unrelated, unproven projects such as the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville were given by proponents of the trail.

Conservatives Of The Upstate did have some facts about the comparison projects though:
• The Swamp Rabbit Trail has proven to be a safety issue with opportunity to specifically target and mug a wealthier by demographic citizen.
• The Swamp Rabbit Trail has exceeded almost every project cost estimate in every category - construction, litigation, liability, and safety.
When it came time to route the Swamp Rabbit Trail through politicians and "favored citizens" property in the Parkins Mill Area, the project was redrawn to route the trail AROUND them.
• Similar rails to trails projects around the country have had multiple legal, environmental, and safety issues. There is plenty of case law to back up an opposition to these rail to trail conversions.
• Usually these projects take all the credit for nearly all economic activity without any regard to NORMAL (without the trail) progress or development - such as the new Walmart locations in Pickens and Easley.
Without regard to the economical or social data of the residents and landowners along the track, on August 19, 2011 … A notice of the proposed trail was published in The Greenville News. The notice was considered legal because of the nature of public notice in a widely read printed paper.

The issue that Conservatives Of The Upstate took with this notice is that no one along the trail reads, subscribes, or relates to The Greenville News which is considered a Greenville County paper with a liberal bias.

Conservatives Of The Upstate went into action …
• We conducted two walking surveys along the trail line of homeowners. Of the 30 that were polled, 29 did not want it.
• We conducted a Pickens Flea Market study, asking ONLY Pickens County residents about the proposed trail … 93 of 95 (all Pickens County residents) said they didn't want it.
• We started a facebook action page to disseminate information regarding the trail and our collective opposition to it.
• We attended Pickens County Council meetings and had multiple members speak in opposition against the proposed track conversion.
• We asked and succeeded with Pickens County Council not to fund the trails with County funds.
• We gathered 87 Doodle Track property owner signatures on a petition of grievances to The City of Pickens and City of Easley mayor and City Councils.
• We attended Easley and Pickens City council meetings.
• We invited or hosted Easley and Pickens City government officials to participate in our meetings.
• We held a meeting with attorneys, with 71 in attendance, to discuss the matters concerning the trail.
• Members of Conservatives Of The Upstate wrote multiple editorials on the matter which were published in local papers ~ bringing awareness to the issue.
• We dedicated multiple monthly Conservatives Of The Upstate meetings to the issue.
• We discussed realistic issues with the project such as fencing and privacy, reversionary ownership rights, just compensation, liability, environmental and safety concerns, and realistic costs for policing, signage, construction, due diligence, and taxpayer burdens.
Conservatives Of The Upstate has these final observations of the issue:

• Visual appearance of site contamination (although unconfirmed)

• There are still concerns over police jurisdiction as the trail meanders through the county and outside the city limits - meaning that possibly three separate law enforcement agencies, and therefore high cost, will be involved.

• DHEC is in a contradictory position because they have already cleared the site without a truly in depth testing or impartial second opinion.

• There is an appearance of stunted growth vegetation and forestation along the track.

• Upstate Forever, in a letter to The Federal Surface Transportation Board stated, "We encourage government to do whatever is necessary" to get this project approved and funded. This statement is irresponsible as it has the insinuation that possible expedience, rather than safety, constitutional duty, and financial responsibility should be priority.

Conservatives Of The Upstate is proud to have stood up for what is right - in all ways. We conducted ourselves professionally, calmly, morally, and ethically sound. We will continue to do so!

Buy a shotgun and to shoot a warning shot to scare off would be criminals?

Many of you asked me to link to this story from a few weeks ago …

Rednecks do it, you see it in the movies ...

But isn't a "warning shot" illegal, not to mention ... dangerous?

CWP class instructors teach you not to fire a gun unless you intend to mortally wound someone or are practicing AT A DESIGNATED & SECURE target practice area.

IMPORTANT: Precinct Reorganization On March 21, 2013

Want to know how to have influence over elections and laws passed in South Carolina?

Want a way to oust corrupt politicians?

Want to direct our county, state, and federal politicians?

There's a little known secret … precinct reorganization, and delegate representation.

Did you know the electoral college, part of precinct and delegate representation decided the 2000 Presidential election and NOT the popular vote? Delegate representation is that powerful! And guess what? Pickens County is woefully unrepresented … why … because usually … NO ONE shows up and most counties don't make a big deal out of it.

Why don't most counties make a big deal out of precinct and delegate representation? Because the two leading parties KNOW how much power the position holds and they'd rather not publicize it!

Precinct Reorganization:

• Occurs every two years

• For Pickens County

• Thursday, March 21, 2013 @ 7PM / Rosewood Center in Liberty ( next to Ingles)

• YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT blue card voter registration to participate! NO EXCEPTIONS!

• You may need $10 per person to pay for your County delegation meeting if elected.

All elected will move on to County Delegation meeting on April 4, 2013 and then the State Convention in Columbia on May 4, 2013

You must be willing to travel on these two dates above and be willing to travel during elections.

Each precincts important positions are Executive Committee Person and President. You do not have to have two people but it would be best if you DID have two people willing to participate.

If you show up - it is very likely you will be elected as your voting precinct's delegate representative!

There are 62 precincts in Pickens County.

Last Precinct Reorganization in 2011 - only 22 people showed up. Most areas were left unrepresented.

More information can be found on the SCVOTES.ORG website.

Pickens County Senator Larry Martin Says He Cannot Support Constitutional Carry Legislation

South Carolina Senator Larry Martin, who was just elected to his fifth term, says that he "cannot support" the Constitutional Carry Bill before legislators in Columbia.

"I cannot vote to eliminate our concealed permit law," says Martin.

SC Bill S115 is called The Constitutional Carry Act Of 2013. The legislation would allow South Carolina residents to lawfully carry a weapon concealed or unconcealed without a permit.

Martin has also opposed most other gun measures including allowing teachers or school administration to carry guns on their person.

Martin stands in opposition to many Pickens County residents and positions that Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark has taken.

SC Senator Larry Martin is a Republican member of the South Carolina Senate , representing the 2nd District (Pickens County) since 1992.

State Senator Lee Bright, a Republican from Spartanburg, has prefiled the bill.

According to … Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming are the states that currently allow residents to carry a firearm without a permit.

Many at a public forum held in Greenville County Council chambers on Monday March 11, 2013 spoke in favor of the proposed bill.

Senator Martin says if the CWP laws are repealed in South Carolina, it will mean that citizens cannot lawfully carry weapons into other states where reciprocity laws apply. But, the comment doesn't address the fact that permits could still be obtained and training could be still be obtained from licensed instructors.

States like Utah have a reciprocity with many states concerning concealed weapons permits. Any South Carolina resident can apply for the permit.

The sound of communism is often silence ...

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has started a campaign to stop loud music coming from headphones in New York City ... not because it's annoying, but because it's bad for your ears.

Health officials are planning a social media campaign costing upwards of $250,000 to warn young people about the risk of losing their hearing from listening to music at high volume on personal MP3 players.
“With public and private support, a public-education campaign is being developed to raise awareness about safe use of personal music players . . . and risks of loud and long listening …"
The campaign is being financed through a grant received from the Fund for Public Health, the Health Department’s fundraising arm.

The Hearing Loss Prevention Media Campaign will target teens and young adults, conducting focus-group interviews and using social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Little Green Army Men Removed Off Of Kid's Cupcakes

A Saginaw Michigan child took cupcakes to school for his birthday.

The cupcakes were decorated with little green army men that have been a part of children’s playful imaginations for decades. The toys build respect for our men in the military and encourage boys to grow up with a respect for the military.

The school felt the need to remove those army men and send out a letter about the issue.
“In the climate of recent events in schools we walk a delicate balance in teaching non-violence in our buildings and trying to ensure a safe, peaceful atmosphere. On one hand, there are those who advocate arming teachers, having armed security guards and creating a fortress of defense in our schools. On the other hand, there are those who feel that guns create fear in schools and we need to put solid security measures in place plus practice routines to be prepared in case an emergency should ever occur. Living in a democratic society entails respect for opposing opinions.

Recently, a third grade boy brought cupcakes to school with plastic soldiers carrying weapons atop each one. These are toys that were commonplace in the past. However some parents prohibit all guns as toys. In light of that difference, the school offered to replace the soldiers with another item and the soldiers were returned home with the student.

In hindsight, one can always second guess a course of action. Schools walk a tightrope on many topics. By not permitting toy soldiers on cupcakes at school, no disrespect for our military or for the brave men and women who defend our right to have differences was intended. Our commitment is always to our children and creating a safe place for them to learn, grow and have respectful dialogues about their differences.”
Maybe he should bring little Gideon Bibles next year for Valentine's Day cards.

Sharia Law Gaining Ground In U.S.?

Emory Univ Professor Admits Sharia Law Is Gaining Momentum & Warns Of Jihad If Not Accepted

On taxpayer funded Voice of America Radio, Emory University’s John Witte says if the West doesn’t accept aspects of Sharia law (s the moral code and religious law of Islam) “then the so-called Danish cartoon crisis will seem tame by comparison.”

He then goes on to criticize those who oppose Sharia in America claiming its just a small, but vocal group of right wingers and Christians.

The Focus On Mental Illness In the Gun Debate

Some atheists say that Christianity is a mental illness.

Some anti-gun lobbies say that desiring to own a gun is a mental illness.

Is being a conservative a mental illness in the eyes of a liberal?

How about a child showing off a PICTURE of his new airsoft BB gun to his friends?

Read how an actor's son is having his mental health questioned after he brought a picture to school to show off his new Airsoft BB gun.
When we include mental illness as a broad definition, we must be very careful.

Most of the proposals on "gun control" by the White House addressed mental illness:
• Remove barriers that prevent states from reporting information on people prohibited from gun ownership for mental health reasons.
• Provide $10 million to CDC for additional research on relationship between video games, media images and violence.
• Provide $55 million for new initiative (Project AWARE) to make sure students get treatment for mental health issues.
• Provide $25 million for state-based strategies supporting individuals ages 16-25 with mental health or substance abuse issues.
• Provide $25 million to offer students mental health services for trauma or anxiety.
• Provide $50 million to train 5,000 additional mental health professionals serving children and young adults.
• Clarify that the health-care law does not prohibit doctors from asking their patients about guns in their homes.
• Launch a national dialogue about mental illness.
• Finalize requirements for private health insurance plans to cover mental health services.
• Ensure that Medicaid recipients get quality mental health coverage.

Attention To Detail Is A Dying Virtue

Attention To Detail Is A Dying Virtue
by Philip Smith

I'm guilty of it. We are all unconsciously guilty of it. Some of us are even aware we are slaves to the brainwashing of immorality, violence, decadence, spiritual hollowness, and socialism ... and some of us don't care. Most of the time, we just do something because it makes us feel good … makes us laugh … or helps us fit in.

Pop culture since the 1950's has been blamed for dumbing down the globe's aged 40 something and under.

Hey, I like the beats to some Lady Gaga songs. Yet, she represents everything I deplore. A quick check of iTunes … I have four Lady Gaga songs that sync to my iPhone. I would have to delete nearly 2/3 of my own music just to be clear of all the immoral behavior worshipping songs. I have movie posters filling my living room with rated R movies - some of which I'd be embarrassed for my son to see unedited.

I'm not trying to promote the notion that I'm better than anyone. I am saying that I'm consciously aware of what these influences have on me and my family and I'm specifically aware of what the consequences of the actions that are promoted in most pop culture are.

I'd like bring two scenarios to your attention:

Recently, a computer virus has been hitting Windows computers ~ wiping out data and making use difficult or very slow.

The majority of those affected are getting it by either friends or family not paying attention to privacy settings on facebook.

Most people just enter a "FREE GIVEAWAY" quickly and forget to check, "Share "ONLY WITH ME"" and not click on ALLOW THIS App to access my friends lists, tag others, share my friends information.

Some are sharing statuses from very questionable sources rather than just copying the picture and reposting it.

Most of the "cute sayings" that are posted on vintage looking postcards are from VIRAL marketing companies who are looking at your name, your friends, your activity then specifically targeting YOU because they know YOU don't pay attention to detail.

Another example is the recent internet craze called "The Harlem Shake" …

The song begins with the lyrics "Con los terroristas!"

"Con los terroristas" is Spanish for "With the terrorists"

DJ Baauer, that created the song "The Harlem Shake" said the lyrics that are repeated over and over in the song mean "shaking like you're firing a machine gun up in the air - like terrorists do."

And you "wear a mask" like a terrorist would.

There's no judgement being passed … but I've seen some of your children in videos doing their rendition of The Harlem Shake.

Personally, I doubt the song would be nearly as popular, especially with parents if the song actually said …

"Dance with the terrorists, pretend you're shooting a machine gun up the air like you're celebrating killing infidels!"

Nope, definitely not as catchy a tune … even if I add the same beat.

Just pay attention to the details. They do matter.
