When debating the topics of whether open practice of religion should be in this place or that and using the first amendment to invoke any sort of a claim to a right, we often skip part of the preamble of the Declaration Of Independence which established this country's direction BEFORE the Constitution was written …
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government."
This action before the Pickens County school board is destructive to these ends - if followed through, we, the overwhelming majority, are being denied our right to acknowledge our Creator. Creator is spelled with a capital "C" in the preamble.
This action before you is denying me my life, my liberty, my pursuit of happiness. My life depends on my relationship with my Creator, spelled with a capital "C".
My liberty is granted to me and perfected by my relationship with my Creator, spelled with a capital "C".
My pursuit of happiness can only be everlasting with an everlasting Creator, spelled with a capital "C".
Let me read you the preamble of the Constitution …
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
I know of no man that can provide me with a blessing. Only God, spelled with a capital "G" can bless me.
The word ordain according to dictionary.com means: (of God) to predestine. That's God spelled with a capital "G".
Our founding fathers wished for God, the Creator, to bless this country. They knew that ONLY God, spelled with a capital "G" could guide leaders.
Let me read you the pledge of allegiance …
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Please don't make any argument with us about what the pledge originally said. I go by what it says but moreso, by what it means.
The pledge reiterates what the Declaration and The Constitution say. We are one nation under God, that's God spelled with a capital "G".
Only God, The Creator can provide something to all of us. Only God, the Creator can guide this country.
I am proud that you have an invocation before these meetings to ask God to guide you.
I ask that you fight this to the end. I think the attendance at this meeting is evidence that resources are waiting ~ both financial and spiritual.
I ask that you countersue this organization for harassment and frivolous litigation and ask that not only are all legal expenses paid, but that our school buildings be paid off. These selfish, Godless troublemakers came here to potentially put this district in financial distress ~ for the sole purpose of their self gratifying antagonizing and GRANDSTANDING.
That's GRANDSTANDING ~ all capitals.
