From The Pickens Sentinel:
Conservatives of the Upstate President Junius Smith has been one of the most fervent critics of the comprehensive plan, commonly referring to it as “socialist.”
Smith said that part of the plan strips people of personal property rights. He often links the comprehensive plan with Agenda 21, a United Nations-sanctioned plan to organize how humans impact the environment throughout the world.
Smith has also suggested that the plan incorporate more elements that will foster economic growth. Conservatives of the Upstate leaders have posted an alternative plan on their website, www.conservativesoftheupstate.com.
The plan promotes private property rights, demands accountability among the elected officials, limits zoning, and adds transparency to government spending.
